The China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) is a national, non-profit, industry-specific economic social organization voluntarily established by enterprises, institutions, and social groups in China’s non-ferrous metals industry to achieve common goals. It is a legally registered social organization with corporate status. The association complies with national laws and regulations, adheres to the principle of serving the government, the industry, and enterprises, establishes and improves industry self-discipline mechanisms, fully leverages its role as an advisor and assistant to the government, acts as a bridge and bond between the government and enterprises, safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of its members, and promotes the healthy development of China’s non-ferrous metals industry. Its Party-building leadership authority is the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council, and its registration authority is the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Scope of Business

The CNIAs scope of business includes ten key functions:

1.Formulate and oversee compliance with industry regulations and self-disciplinary conventions based on national policies and laws, regulate industry conduct, mediate price disputes, and maintain fair competition.

2.Conduct research to provide recommendations and proposals to the government on formulating industry development plans, industrial policies, and relevant laws and regulations.

3.Assist government authorities in developing and revising national industry standards, and oversee the formulation, revision, and implementation of industry standards.

4.Conduct industry statistical surveys under authorization from government departments, including collecting, organizing, analyzing, and publishing industry information.

5.Perform preliminary evaluations for infrastructure construction, technological upgrades, technology imports, and investment projects as entrusted by government authorities.

6.Participate in quality supervision and qualification reviews under government authorization, conduct industry inspections and evaluations, review production and operation licenses, and investigate industry injury cases.

7.Organize scientific achievement appraisals, awards, and promotions, facilitate professional title evaluations, talent exchanges, and training programs, publish journals, provide consulting services, and host trade fairs and exhibitions.

8.Promote international economic and technological exchanges and cooperation, oversee the implementation of bilateral or multilateral international agreements, and participate in activities of global industry organizations.

9.Represent member interests, coordinate member relations, and protect members’ legal rights.

10.Undertake other tasks assigned by government authorities.
